Selbyville Police Department is Accepting Applications

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • 21 years of age upon completion of the police academy;
  • U.S. Citizen
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent, 2 years of college, or more, preferred
  • Possess a valid Delaware or Maryland driver’s license

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications are selected on a competitive basis. Each candidate must successfully complete the following:

  • Written job-related examination
  • Physical Agility Test
  • CVSA examination
  • Background investigation
  • Psychological examination
  • Medical / Physical /Drug Screening

Non-certified applicants who are granted a conditional fire will be required to successfully complete both the basic police officer training program conducted at the Delaware State Police Academy, and a 10 week field training program.

Certified applicants must be able to meet the requirements established by the Council on Police Training. Certified applicants that are granted a conditional hire will also participate in a abbreviated field training program.

The applicant is responsible for showing the requested documents to the investigator / interviewer and also for providing a photocopy of each original document. The investigator will review the documents with you at the time of the interview. Failure to produce the requested documents will results in a delay of processing your application or possible rejection from the process.

Included in the Application for Employment are the following items:

CERTIFICATE OF BIRTH, HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA, COLLEGE DIPLOMA (IF APPLICABLE), OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS – HIGH SCHOOL AND/OR COLLEGE DD214 FOR EACH PERIOD OF MILITARY SERVICE, NATURALIZATION CERTIFICATE ANY COURT ORDERS: DIVORCE, BANKRUPTCY, CHILD SUPPORT, NAME CHANGE, ORDER OF JUDGEMENT, LEGAL SEPARATION, ETC., DRIVER’S LICENSE, SOCIAL SECURITY CARD.
