TOWN OF SELBYVILLE ELECTIONS & DISTRICTS

The Town of Selbyville is governed by a Town Council composed of four (4) Councilmembers and one (1) Mayor. They have the legislative power to provide police protection and to develop and adopt ordinances relating to parking, zoning, traffic, signs, and construction and property maintenance code.

The Town of Selbyville is divided into four (4) election districts, each nearly equal in population based on the most recent U.S. decennial census. One (1) Councilmember is elected from each district and must be a resident of the district they represent. Each Councilmember is elected solely by the registered voters who reside within their respective district. The Mayor, who may be a resident of any of the four (4) election districts, is elected at-large.

Elections follow a staggered schedule:

  • Districts 1 & 3: Elections held in odd-numbered years.
  • Districts 2 & 4: Elections held in even-numbered years.
  • The Mayor will be elected at-large by all registered voters in odd-numbered years.

Your district assignment is based on current census data. If your district changes due to updates from the U.S. Census Bureau, and you are a registered voter with the Town, you will be notified after the release of the updated census data.
