Tax Rate Adjustment Notice

Our charter requires the Town to use the Sussex County assessment list; however, the Town sets its own tax rate. Following the recent countywide reassessment, the Town has adjusted its tax rates to keep any increases for residents and businesses to a minimum. The previous tax rate was $2.15 per $100 of assessed value. The new tax rates are: Residential: $0.135 per $100 of assessed value Commercial: $0.250 per $100 of assessed value

Scam Alert: Phone Calls Impersonating Law Enforcement   The Selbyville Police Department wants to alert our community about a phone scam involving callers spoofing the numbers of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Selbyville Police Department.   These calls are fraudulent and may attempt to pressure you for personal information or money. Similar scams have been reported in nearby areas.   ***What you should do: -Do not give out personal information or payment over the phone. -Hang up immediately if the call feels suspicious. -Remember: Law enforcement will never demand money or threaten arrest over the phone. -Report any suspicious calls to your local police department.   We encourage everyone to stay alert and share this information with friends and family to help prevent others from becoming victims.
